Terms of service
The rules for playing Vireldan Idle, written to be read rather than skipped.
Last updated 15 August 2026
Who these terms are with
Vireldan Idle is made and operated by an independent developer based in the Netherlands. Playing the game means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not play. Questions go to legal@vireldanidle.com.
Your account
The game creates an account for you on first launch, with a generated handle and no personal details. You may optionally attach a Google or Apple sign-in, or an email address, so the account can be recovered.
An account without an attached sign-in method is tied to your device alone. If you lose the device or delete the app, we cannot identify you and the account cannot be recovered. That is a consequence of collecting as little as possible about you, and it is worth understanding before it happens.
You are responsible for what happens on your account. Do not share it, and do not use another person's.
How to behave
Guild chat is the one place in Vireldan Idle where you can write freely to other players, and your handle is visible to others in guilds and the arena. In both, the following are not allowed:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or targeting another player
- Hate speech or slurs of any kind, including in your handle
- Sexual content, and any content involving minors
- Spam, advertising, scams, or links to malicious software
- Impersonating another player or the developer
- Sharing another person's private information
Messages can be reported from inside the game, and guild leadership can remove messages and remove members. We may remove any content and suspend or delete any account that breaks these rules, without notice where the behaviour is serious. If you think a decision was wrong, write to legal@vireldanidle.com and it will be looked at by a person.
Playing fairly
The game is server-authoritative: your progress is calculated and stored on our servers, not on your phone. Do not modify the game, automate it beyond the idle progression it already provides, exploit bugs for advantage, or interfere with the servers. If you find a bug that gives an unfair advantage, report it rather than use it. Accounts built on exploits may be corrected or removed.
Items, currency, and progress
Everything you earn in the game, including items, gold, levels, and cosmetics, exists only inside the game. It is licensed to you for play, not owned by you, has no monetary value, and cannot be sold, traded outside the game, or exchanged for money. Selling accounts or in-game goods for real money is not permitted.
There is nothing to buy in the game today, and the whole of it is open to you during the beta. That will change at launch.
Vireldan Idle will be a free base game with paid content alongside it, and some of what is free to play during the beta will be part of that paid content. We would rather say that plainly now than surprise you with it later. Testing the game means seeing all of it, including the parts that will eventually be sold.
The shape is the one the genre already knows: a free version you can play and finish things in, and a paid full game with the rest of it.
What will never be sold is power. No stat boosts, no loot boxes or random rewards, no paying to skip the playing, and no advantage over another player that was bought rather than earned. What money buys is access to content: a skill such as Starcalling, a region, a chapter. Everything inside it is still levelled, fought and crafted exactly as the rest of the game is. Buying an expansion gets you the door, not the progress behind it.
Beyond that we commit to how selling is done rather than how much stays free: you will always see a price before you are asked to pay it, nothing you have paid for will be taken back, and no subscription will begin without you choosing it. These terms will be updated with the detail before anything can be bought.
None of this changes the beta reset described below. Everyone’s progress ends at launch, and no purchase will exempt an account from that or carry progress through it.
The game is in beta, and beta progress will be reset
When Vireldan Idle leaves beta and launches properly, all progress will be reset. Every account starts again from the beginning: levels, items, gold, and everything else earned during alpha and beta. This is planned, not a risk being hedged against, and it is the single most important thing to understand before you invest time in the game.
Everyone who played during alpha, closed beta, or open beta will receive a unique item at launch, one that will never be obtainable again. It marks that you were here first.
Beyond that reset, your progress carries across ordinary updates and there is no intention of wiping saves in between. Content, balance, and features change often while the game is in beta, and the service may be interrupted for maintenance or by faults, so we cannot promise permanent availability of the service or of any particular feature during this period. If the service ever has to shut down, we will say so in advance where we reasonably can.
Your content
What you write in guild chat remains yours. By posting it you allow us to store and display it within the game so other players can read it, and to remove it where it breaks these rules.
Our content
The game, the world of Vireldan, its artwork, text, music, and the novel it shares a world with are the developer's property and protected by copyright. Play the game as much as you like; do not copy, redistribute, or reuse the contents commercially without permission. Screenshots, videos, streams, and fan creations are welcome and encouraged.
Ending things
You can stop playing at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and its data by writing to legal@vireldanidle.com. We may suspend or end access for accounts that break these rules. What we store and your rights over it are set out in the privacy policy.
Liability
The game is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from playing it, from interruptions to the service, or from loss of progress. Nothing here limits any right you have under Dutch or European consumer law, which applies whatever these terms say.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you keep the protections of your own country's law and may bring proceedings there.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes and the new version appears here before it takes effect. Continuing to play after that means accepting the updated terms.
Apple
If you installed the game from the App Store, Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the game or for support of it. Apple's standard licensed application terms also apply to your use of the app.
