One Rung at a Time
Your master asks for the next tool, not the last one
A profession master used to point at the finest tool you had the level for, which could be four rungs and most of your gold away, and buying it would not have opened a single thing below it. A tool only unlocks its own tier of work. They now ask for the lowest one you are still missing, say something when you bring it back, and only then name the next.
Every tier tells you what it is waiting for
Open a tier you are not equipped for and the first card names the tool, the master who asked you for it, and where it actually comes from. Most are bought at the market, the hearths are built rather than sold, and your first tool in every profession is a gift. The recipes underneath now just wait with a quiet greyed out button, instead of shouting the same sentence across twenty one of them.
Dungeons pay their own tier
Eight dungeons were handing out gear from the wrong tier. Six of them paid below their own, so the hardest content in the game could reward you with equipment a full tier down, and those drops have moved up to where they belong. Two paid above their own, including the very first dungeon you can walk into, which is why unweaving its loot was levelling Weaving faster than anything else in the game. Those have come down to match. A dungeon now pays its own tier in both directions, and the sell values moved with them.
The hearths can be built again
Building a hearth turned out to require already owning that hearth, so Firemaking and Cooking both stopped dead at whichever fire you happened to have. Every rung from the Stone-Ring Hearth upward is reachable again, and each one still asks for the fire below it first.
Fixes
- Tapping an equipped item, on the character sheet or in the vault, no longer takes the app down.
